Description
Job Summary:
The area specific Clinical Coordinator role works as an integral part of the leadership team and assists with administrative help as defined by the departmental Manager or Director. This role provides clinical direction for staff on a day-to-day basis within the area of expertise in the organization. The role works in accordance with organizational professional standards of care and nursing standards of care, all in alliance with policies and procedures to enhance a culture of safety, drive quality patient care, and operational excellence.

In planning for a healthy future for the organization, this position requires a full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission and Strategic Plan of St. John’s Health. It is anticipated that the person occupying this role will always demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with St. John’s Core Values and Vision and maintain trust and collaboration with both staff and leadership individuals. This role, in alliance with the Manager/Director acts as a mentor to others to promote individual growth and development of clinical personnel.

Essential Functions:
1. Administrative and Clinical Direction
·Assists with the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures for the unit.
·Promotes interpersonal growth in team building.
·Utilizes risk management knowledge to identify high risk situations and initiates appropriate intervention in collaboration with the Manager/Director.
·Supervises nursing activities related to patient care.
·Acts as a clinical resource to staff.
·Oversees staff to ensure safe, efficient coordination of care for patients/clients.
·Manages employee schedules and/or employee timecards, as directed by leadership.
·Assists with: schedule (including tracking staff attendance and sick calls), quality presentations, policy reviews, agenda for staff meetings and employee recognition and appreciation.

2. Leadership
·Supports and promotes the SJH mission/vision/values to all staff.
·Participates and supports the SJH and departmental Performance Improvement Program.
·Participates with Leadership Team to complete objectives and constructive on-going evaluations in a timely manner.
·Annually updates the competencies of all employees in area served to ensure new processes are included and works closely with educators to ensure that employees receive a thorough orientation.
·Represents the Manager/Director in their absence on hospital committees (as assigned) and communicates information in a timely manner.
·Assists with the formulation and maintenance of policies and procedures for the area of supervision.
·Supervises and provides leadership to the staff by acting as a role model.
·Communicates effectively with medical staff to problem solve and utilizes the chain of command when necessary.
·Promotes effective communication between interdisciplinary medical teams.

3. Operational Aspects
·Assists Manager/Director with monitoring budget: repairs, supplies, staffing FTE’s, capital, salaries, and productivity.
·Is available to assist staff in clinical and/or stressful situations.
·Ability to prioritize needs of area served when changes or situations occur.
·Ability to communicate needs with Manager/Director and/or House Supervisor as necessary.

4. Direct Patient Care
·Fulfills Job Description of RN.
·Supports staffing in direct patient care when scheduled and/or at times of emergency situations, high census, open holes in schedule or as assigned or requested by the Manager/Director.
·Acts as a clinical resource to staff.
·Rounds on patients and staff as needed and necessary to resolve patient and/or family issues.
·Act in Charge Nurse role as needed.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Education: 
Required:
Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN/ASN)
Preferred: Bachelor’s (BSN) or Master’s degree in nursing (MSN). Specialty certification in area of expertise.

Minimum Work Experience:
Required: A minimum of 2 years in Emergency nursing

Required Licenses: Current RN license with the authority to practice in the State of Wyoming and BLS required at time of hire.

Functional Demands:
Working Conditions: 
Occasional or frequent stressful situations depending on situations. Must be on-site at the SJH campus or other areas associated with the organization to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Physical Requirements: 75% of time standing and walking. Ability to push, pull, lift, and move patients as needed. Assistance available. Ability to lift to 50 pounds. Must possess sight/hearing senses to meet job requirements.

Direct Reports: Department staff RNs, CNAs and ancillary staff.
